Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) Help

EPS Format

The default EPS paper type is not defined in CS_PAPER but is included in the list of available paper sizes. This generates an Encapsulated PostScript format output file intended for importation to another DTP package. Selecting EPS prevents some options in the Bentley Advanced Map Finishing Print dialog box from being adjusted since they are not required.

The scale is initially set to 1.0. Adjust the size or scale and print as usual. If you stretch the imported EPS element in the target package, the line weights in the EPS file increase or decrease. This is the same as doing a photographic enlargement. The size of the EPS file should be set from within the Bentley Advanced Map Finishing Print dialog box. The resulting print file automatically has .EPS as the default extension.

Note: Most applications do not interpret PostScript. When an EPS file is included, it appears as a box with some information, depending on the header chosen, where the EPS will be printed. The final document must be printed to a PostScript device.

If an EPS paper type is used to produce four colour separations, five files are created. These are the four files corresponding to each colour plate as for a normal separation along with an extra EPS header file used to import the pre-separated EPS files into other packages which can accept them (for example, QuarkXpress).
